Complaints in the jaw area, temporomandibular dysfunctions can be very disturbing. Almost 5% of the dutch citizens suffer from complaints in the jaw area. Signs and symptoms are: a clicking sound in the joint, pain in the chewing system, and/or limitations in the maximum mouth opening. These complaints do not always solve into functional problems, though in time it can lead to limitations in the normal function of the chewing system.
